July 22 Memorial Walk

Memorial Walk for Carey C. Hawkins July 22

Dear friend and family,
For my birthday this year I would like everyone to join me on a memorial walk for my brother Carey C. Hawkins who died August 2009. Donations will be accepted for those that would like to contribute and will go to an anti drug program in UT. If you can't donate it is fine, just come and enjoy everyones company on the walk. We have not determined the location yet but it will be a great walk (or run) if you desire and will be fun. We will be having lunch and refreshments after.

When: Friday July 22 at 9:30 a.m.
Where: Location To be announced
Lunch: To be announced

Please RSVP no later than July 17! I would like to know if you can come. I understand Fridays are hard to get off for people that work but it is summer and I'm hoping your schedules can be flexible.
RSVP to my mobile 801 857-7402.

For my friends/family that are in other places besides Utah, Come if you can but I understand if you can't come.

Utah Lake

On Saturday, July 17, we got together at Utah Lake State Park for some sun, sand, food and a little boating. We celebrated Crystal, Cherish and Claine's birthdays. Claine brought down his boat and we had a great time on it as well.

Cameron on a rescue

SOLITUDE — A motorcyclist was seriously injured after flying off an embankment in Big Cottonwood Canyon Saturday.

The 36-year-old man, from the Salt Lake Valley, appears to have lost control about 3:15 p.m. as he traveled up the canyon, said Unified Police spokesman Lt. Don Hutson.

The man struck rocks, resulting in multiple fractures and significant injuries, Hutson said.

He was airlifted to the University of Utah in critical condition.

Eternal Families are the best

The other day, a few of us went up to Midway to see Carey's grave. It was different from previous times that we had gone. No tears of pain were shed. It was peaceful this time. I am so grateful for time and the Spirit that heals our hearts. The Lord knows exactly how to help us through our grief. He knows our hearts.

This September 11th my husband Herb and I are going to be sealed! I am also doing my endowment the week previous. We can do Carey's work too. How exciting! I don't know what Carey is doing up there but I know that he's with me more now than he was when he was alive. He is always going to be my big brother watching out for me!

How blessed we are to have temple work to bind our families together for all eternity!

Carey's Gravestone

Last Sunday, we drove up to Midway to see Carey's gravestone. It turned out really nice. My parents used the drawing Carey drew in jail a couple of years ago of the cabin. Carey always found peace at the cabin, so it is only fitting to have it with him forever. Miss you, Care Bear!

Festival of Trees

The past few weeks, my mom worked really hard to put together a Christmas tree for the Festival of Trees. With help from her friend, Connie, she did a tree in memory of my little brother, Carey. We often referred Carey to Care Bear, so she did the tree all in Care Bears. It turned out very darling!!! As a family last night, we went to the Festival to see it. If you get a chance to go to the Festival, make sure you check out the tree on Row K at the very north east corner. And we are excited that the tree did sell and all proceeds go to the Primary Children's Hospital. Great Job, MOM!!!!
